10th International Chess Festival took place in a beautiful city Rochefort from 19 to 25 of February 2011. Organizers Philippe Giambiasi, Gilles Demuth and their team as always made a great job preparing everything in the perfect way while chief arbiter Dominique Dervieux refereed tournament flawlessly.
In the A-Group there were 6 GMs and 8 IMs amongst 44 partcipants.  First important results came in the 3rd round when “Solo” won with black a nice game against GM Sharapov in Hedgehog structure while IM Colin was stronger in wild complications than ELO favorite GM Arutinian. 4th round: clash of leaders Solodovnichenko – Colin in Dragon Variation ended in Yuri’s favor and he remained on top alone. After short draw with GM Barsov “Solo” won two more games: long maneuvring struggle against IM Bedouin and very short tactical fight against FM Debray. Two draws in last rounds (both well-fighted) allowed Yuri to take 1st place confidently.
